Three days can make a satisfying first visit if you organise by area rather than cross the city repeatedly. This plan separates the old city, Lintong and the southern cultural district. Swap the order around confirmed museum reservations, and do not count an arrival or departure half-day as a full sightseeing day.

Day one: understand the old city

Begin near the South Gate with a manageable section of the wall, then explore the Bell and Drum Tower area and have a meal in the old city. Keep a full cycling circuit optional. If you arrive late, stay at street level and move the longer wall visit elsewhere. The aim is to understand the layout, not finish every central attraction immediately.

Day two: reserve space for Lintong

Use the confirmed Terracotta Army reservation to organise the Lintong day. Leave the return evening flexible. If you want another local attraction, ask what time it takes away from the figures or the wider mausoleum landscape. A private car helps organise the journey but does not remove queues, traffic or the need to move between different parts of a large site.

Day three: stay in the south

If you have a reservation for the Shaanxi History Museum’s main building, organise the day around it and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda area, with a proper meal break. Without a booking, choose another confirmed experience rather than waiting at the door. The Qinhan Gallery is a different location, not an adjacent spare exhibition that can be inserted without replanning.

Adjust the depth to your group

For families, fix one substantial activity each day and decide the evening after seeing how everyone feels. History enthusiasts may prefer less shopping and a focused interpretation session. Huashan requires a separate decision: add time or replace a full city day rather than treating a mountain excursion as spare-time entertainment. A good itinerary reflects interests, not the number of rows on a schedule.

Confirm bookings before fixing the final shape

Confirm the most important timed visits before finalising the hotel and departure arrangements. A fashionable district is not always the easiest place for vehicle access or luggage. Check the actual entrance, pickup point and noise expectations. On the final day, allow for collecting bags and reaching the station or airport. Remove a distant stop if that leaves only half a day.

Questions travellers ask

Do these three days include arrival and departure?

The framework assumes three useful sightseeing days. Reduce it when arrival or departure takes a substantial part of the stay.

What if the museum reservation is unavailable?

Use a confirmed alternative. Do not depend on paying extra for guaranteed access or assume the Qinhan Gallery fits the same route.

Should every evening contain an activity?

No. Choose one evening that interests everyone and leave space for rest after the flight or the Lintong excursion.
